Xbox Will Release More Than 30 Games and Pieces of Content Next Week
Xbox has revealed its August 17-21 release schedule, with more than 30 launches spanning new games, DLC, pre-orders, and smaller indie releases.
Xbox has shared its new lineup of games for the week of August 17-21. The list includes more than 30 releases, and the start of the schedule features both new titles and content expansions.
The Week’s Most Notable Releases
One of the standout entries in Xbox’s list is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope from GSC Game World. This content arrives as a DLC on August 20 and opens up a new expedition into the Zone. According to its description, it will be a large, non-linear expansion. On the story side, a fragile peace is expected to break down, the balance between two rivals will collapse, and the player will have to choose sides within a complex web of interests.
Another notable name is Backyard Baseball. The game, developed by Playground Productions, is set to launch on August 18. It looks like the classic series has been reimagined with modern features. Xbox’s post highlights new game modes, new ways to play, unlockable content, and achievements. It also lists concrete details such as 11 remastered stadiums, 24 original teams, 6 different game modes, and 30 beloved Backyard characters.
Two New Dates on the Horror and Action Side
Another August 18 release is The Sinking City 2 – Pre-Order. The Frogwares title is described as a third-person survival horror game set in 1920s Arkham. The source text says the game intentionally keeps the pace slow, emphasizing resource management and tension. Inventory management, unsettling puzzles, and backtracking through unlocked shortcuts to gather supplies are also among the highlighted elements.
Mortal Shell II – Pre-order arrives on August 20. Published by Playstack, the game is presented as a standalone sequel to the original Mortal Shell. It emphasizes a faster and more unforgiving combat system, deeper weapon design, extensive upgrade options, and a compact open world focused on free exploration. It is also noted that the bodies of exceptional warriors scattered across the ruined world can be found and inhabited to use their natural powers. For those buying the Devout Edition, there is also early access of up to 72 hours starting August 17.
